Licensed Technicians
Karen, AHT, is currently a full-time veterinary technician. She believes the best part of the Feline Medical Clinic is the high quality of care and compassion the doctors and staff show to every cat, everyday. Karen initially started coming to clinic with her own cats in 1977 when Dr. Engle opened the clinic, and she always thought it would be a great place to work. She received her chance in 1990, when she began to work at the Feline Medical Clinic part-time.
After a few years, Karen decided to return to school to acquire an animal health technician license. She had already received a BA in art from Central Washington University in 1982. She completed classes through Portland Community College and became a licensed Animal Health Technician in Washington State in 1992.
Even after obtaining her license, Karen knew she would continue to work at the Feline Medical Clinic because of the consistently high quality of medicine and ethics.
Karen is the owner of 3 cats (Jacki, Rosie, and Lucy), and one nutty dog (Dottie).

Melanie, AHT, is a full-time veterinary technician who enjoys helping sick and debilitated cats to recover and lead long, healthy and happy lives. She has helped many cats since joining the Feline Medical Clinic in 1992.
Melanie received her BA in psychology in 1985 from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. She completed classes for animal technicians through Mt. Hood Community College and became a licensed Animal Health Technician in Washington State in 1993. Prior to working for the Feline Medical Clinic she worked as a veterinary receptionist and technician at the North Academy Veterinary Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO.
After working so many years with us, Melanie feels that the close contact with many clients has made them feel just like an extended family.
Melanie is the owner of a 12 year old, DSH, torbie cat named Jadzia, and a 5 month old DSH named Duncan.

Trudy began working at the Feline Medical Clinic as veterinary assistant in February of 2001. She became a full-time veterinary technician in August of 2006.
Trudy thinks the best part of her job is working with the cats.
Trudy received her BS in Pre-Veterinary Medicine from Brigham Young University in 1999. Her last job involved working with horses in the Animal Science Dept. Equine unit at BYU.
She currently has 4 horses of her own: Smokey, Mariah, Doc, and Kitt. She also has 2 blue merle Australian Shepherds, Kes and Tick, whom are working stock dogs. Last but not least, she has Toby, a black, DSH cat.
As if caring for her various animals weren't enough to keep her busy, Trudy also enjoys reading, dog-trialing, horseback riding and drawing.
